Enterprise CarShare now available at Penn State
Enterprise CarShare, a car-sharing service from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, is now available for Penn State students, faculty and staff at University Park. A cost-effective alternative to car ownership, the membership-based service offers the freedom and flexibility of using a vehicle while only paying for the hours it is being used. Enterprise CarShare vehicles are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with low rates by the hour, the day, overnight and weekends.
Enterprise CarShare is waiving the application and first-year membership fees for new members now through Aug. 21. Starting Aug. 22, new members can join for $1 and receive $5 hourly driving rates until Dec. 31. All Penn State students, faculty and staff ages 18 and up with a valid driver’s license, including international driver’s licenses, can join at www.EnterpriseCarShare.com/psu. The membership includes fuel, dedicated parking spaces, maintenance and easy reservations via the Enterprise CarShare mobile app.
“We are thrilled to partner with Enterprise CarShare to introduce another alternative transportation program to the Penn State community,” said Rob DeMayo, director of Transportation Services. “Enterprise CarShare offers affordable and flexible vehicle access to Penn State students, faculty and staff who don’t own a vehicle or don’t wish to bring one to campus, while lessening the demand on our campus parking facilities. It’s a win-win scenario for the University.”
Enterprise CarShare’s automated rental process through the mobile app allows members to login and reserve a vehicle anytime, anywhere. The program has three Nissan Sentra sedans now available for rent from the following campus locations (map available at the Enterprise CarShare website):
- Lot Brown 11 (White Course Apartments)
- Lot 81 (South and Pollock Halls)
- Lot Yellow E (along Curtin Road near Visual Arts Building)
Additional vehicles and vehicle types, as well as an additional location at Lot 42 at Nittany Apartments, will be introduced later this summer, with a total of six vehicles expected to be available for rent by the start of the fall semester.
While state minimum physical damage and liability insurance coverage is provided, users are strongly encouraged to verify coverage through their own insurance provider before registering for this service. Use of the Enterprise CarShare service is also limited to personal use only, and may not be used for travel related to University business.
Members can download the Enterprise CarShare app for iPhone andAndroid devices to make or modify reservations, extend rentals and choose pickup locations.
Enterprise CarShare is currently available in more than 35 states, Canada and the U.K., as well as on more than 100 university campuses.
