CATA Begins Reimagine Study: Do You Have Big Ideas? Have Your Say!
State College, PA -- Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) recently kicked off a project called “Reimagine CATA” that will redefine mobility in Centre County. The outcome of the project will be a “blueprint” for CATA for how it evolves to deliver services for its customers. The study will investigate aspects such as building bus rapid transit, investing in an expanded park-n-ride network, route branding, improving our bus stops and shelters, future technology, and how CATA connects with other forms of mobility.
Stantec Consulting Services Inc., a global design and architecture firm that has worked with transit agencies across the country, will assist CATA Staff on the project.
Reimagine CATA will identify improvements to the existing transit service as well as imagine new services and features according to Stantec’s Sasha Pejcic, Global Bus Lead. “The project’s focus is to devise a strategy that takes CATA to the next level. Reimagine CATA is more than just a bus study, it’s community building.”
CATA’s consultant will engage the Centre County community from October 4th to 8th with drop-in sessions at Penn State University, Bellefonte YMCA, and Schlow Centre Region Library. The project team will also be on the streets, aboard buses and at major points of attraction within the CATA’s service area speaking to both riders and non-riders.
CATA and Stantec encourage both riders and non-riders to complete a survey that runs from October 4th until November 5th. That survey can be accessed at CATA's website.
The Reimagine CATA Project is scheduled over an 11-month period with final recommendations to be made to the Board of Directors by mid-2022.
