CATA to Offer Deeply Discounted OnePass and Youth Passes This Fall
Last month, the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) announced its final approved list of fall 2021 service changes affecting CATABUS fixed-route, CATAGO! microtransit and CATARIDE paratransit services, as well as a CATARIDE fare increase, all of which will go into effect Saturday, August 21, with the start of CATA’s fall full-service schedule.
A complete list of changes can be found on the CATA website.
As service changes are finalized and go into effect, CATA is pleased to announce that it will offer discounts on select bus passes throughout the fall months for those using its services as a thank you for riding and a welcome back to regular service on the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Passengers purchasing OnePass or Youth Pass CATABUS/CATAGO! passes of any length between Sunday, August 1, and Friday, December 31, will receive 50% off their purchase.
OnePasses and Youth Passes (available to persons under the age of 18 years) are available in increments of one to twelve months and are normally available for purchase from CATA's Customer Service Center for $86 and $26 per month, respectively. During this period, they will be made available for $43 and $13 per month, saving riders as much as $500 when purchasing a 12-month OnePass.
Passes may be used for fare on both CATABUS fixed-route and CATAGO! microtransit service (currently available in Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap and expanding to Boalsburg on Saturday, August 21) and provide unlimited use of the services.
"As our community works together to move toward a renewed sense of normalcy and to maintain a safe and healthy atmosphere for residents in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at CATA are looking forward to restoring as much service as possible and welcoming back those who will again be riding CATA's services this fall, as well as to thanking those riders who have continued to use the services throughout the pandemic," said Louwana Oliva, Executive Director and CEO. "The pass discount that will be implemented in August provides us with a way to do just that."
Please note that per the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) all riders are required to continue wearing a face covering over the nose and mouth while waiting for or riding on CATA's services. CATA continues to maintain hand sanitizing stations on all vehicles, clean its vehicles with industrial electrostatic cleaning and disinfection nightly, and take additional steps to maintain a safe riding environment. To learn more about these efforts, please visit CATA's website.
