First-year students eligible for spring student parking with pre-approval
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- With reduced parking demand on campus this academic year due to remote learning and teleworking, first-year students interested in bringing a vehicle to campus are encouraged to apply for an exception to the University's first-year student parking restriction.
To be considered, a student's parent or guardian must submit a notarized letter by email to [email protected] with the following information:
- Student's name, Penn State ID number and email address
- The reason why student parking is needed
- The date range during which parking is being requested (entire semester or a shorter period)
- The parent or guardian's signature accompanied by a witness seal from a notary public
Students who submit this request will be notified by email with a decision. If approved, first-year students in need of parking for the entire semester will be able to purchase a permit online and those who need parking for a shorter time period will visit the Transportation Services Office at 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck to purchase a permit. Available permit options will be based on students' assigned campus housing area and which permits remain available at the time of purchase. First-year students who live off-campus and are commuting to and from campus may purchase a student Commuter permit online without prior approval.
