Changes to parking and transit services during Thanksgiving break

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Transportation Services has announced changes to campus parking and transit services during the University's Thanksgiving holiday break.

PARKING

MONDAY, NOV. 25 – THURSDAY, NOV. 28

Core faculty/staff permit holders (Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Silver, Yellow) may park at the following student lots:

  • Lot 11
  • Lot 22
  • Lot 81
  • Lot 82

On Monday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 26, all other normal weekday faculty, staff, student, and visitor parking regulations will remain in effect.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27 - FRIDAY, NOV. 29

Faculty/staff and student permit holders may park at Eisenhower Deck and all surface parking areas normally available to them during evening/weekend hours, but all other regular parking regulations will remain in effect.

Overnight restrictions between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. for the Commuter lots will remain in effect, and all reserved parking spaces, such as ADA, service/delivery, etc., will remain reserved.

SATURDAY, NOV. 30

Penn State football will host Maryland at 3:30 p.m. at Beaver Stadium. Normal football parking and traffic impacts will be in place. Full details will be shared the week of the game.

Students are encouraged to return on Friday night or Sunday, due to the Penn State Football game. Game Day Traffic Pattern will be in effect.

Students returning to campus should expect heavy traffic getting to, from, and around campus on Saturday. 

Students living in East Halls and students with a Lot 82 permit who must return on Saturday, please note that access to Lot 82 student parking areas will be unavailable from approximately noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday. The following accommodations are in place for Saturday:

  • Lot 82 permit holders returning Saturday should park at the East Parking Deck. Tap your Penn State ID+ Card at the in-lane machines to enter and exit. Vehicles must by parked at Lot 82 by midnight Sunday night.

Parents, families, and anyone dropping a student off at East Halls will only be able to park at the East Parking Deck. The parking fee is $2 for the first hour and $1 for the second hour, if parked less than two hours. If parked for additional time beyond the two hours, the $40 event parking rate will be charged. After noon on Saturday, access to the East Deck will only be available by traveling east on Park Avenue, from Atherton Street and then turn right on to Bigler Road.
