Off-Campus Student Permits

Students living off campus who wish to park on campus at University Park are required to register for and display a valid student parking permit. Commuter permits are designed for off-campus students who possess overnight parking at their residence, but wish to park on campus for class and other activities. Off-Campus Storage permits are designed for off-campus students in need of a permanent parking location for their vehicle.

 

STUDENT COMMUTER (SCR)

Student Commuter Lots

Location:

Student Commuter (SCR) parking is comprised of three parking areas (highlighted in black on above map):

  • Jordan East (east of Bryce Jordan Center)
  • Stadium West (west of Beaver Stadium)
  • Porter North (north of Medlar Field)
  • Porter South (south of Medlar Field)

Permit information:

  • Student Commuter permits are restricted to students residing in off-campus housing.
  • Valid for parking at the Commuter lots all day, except between 2 a.m. - 4 a.m., seven days a week.
  • Between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday - Friday, the student Commuter permit is only valid in the Commuter lots.
  • Valid in many additional campus lots (see yellow-shaded lots on the student parking map) after 4 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Not valid from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. in the Commuter lots or campus parking decks.
  • Access to central campus is available via the campus bus service. View the CATABUS Campus Service schedule for times and stops.
  • For home football games, Jordan East, Stadium West, Porter North, Porter South, Orange L East, Orange A West OPP, Orange B Softball, Orange O, Yellow H Shields, Yellow H Wagner, and Yellow H Intramural Building are restricted from all parking from midnight Friday night until the resumption of normal traffic patterns after the game. Any vehicle that remains in the lot after midnight will be ticketed and towed.
  • Valid for parking at Jordan East and Stadium West for most Bryce Jordan Center and Pegula Ice Arena events, as well as for State College Spikes baseball at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

PURPLE 43 (OFF-CAMPUS STORAGE)

Location:

Purple 43 is located along Hastings Road between University Drive and Porter Road (highlighted in purple on above map).

Permit information:

  • Purple 43 permits are restricted to students residing in off-campus housing with at least 29.1 approved credits completed (no minimum credit requirement during summer sessions).
  • Purple 43 permits are not permitted in any other student lot. All permits sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Valid in many additional campus lots (see yellow-shaded lots on the student parking map) after 4 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Not valid from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. in the Commuter lots or campus parking decks.

YAS/WEST DECK (OFF-CAMPUS STORAGE)

Location:

The West Deck is located along White Course Drive at West Campus between the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building and White Course Apartments.

Permit information:

YAS permits are available to any student living on campus who have completed at least 29.1 approved credits (no minimum credit requirement during summer sessions).

YAS permits are valid for residence hall loading/unloading for up to 15 minutes, provided that four-way flashers are in use and vehicles are parked in a legal, non-reserved space in the associated resident student parking area (Note: West Halls students should use Lot Brown E for loading/unloading when needed).

EVENING/WEEKEND

Evening/Weekend permits are only available to graduate students enrolled in the RIDEpass mass transit program. The monthly rate is $6 per month, and permits must be purchased in person at the Transportation Services Office at 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck.

Evening/Weekend permit information:

  • Evening/Weekend permits are valid for campus parking only after 4 p.m. weekdays and throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays in many campus lots (see starred lots on the student parking map).
  • Between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday - Friday, the Evening/Weekend permit is not valid in any campus parking lots.
  • Evening/Weekend permits are not valid from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. in any campus parking lot, seven days a week.

The Evening/Weekend permit option will be permanently discontinued effective June 30, 2022.
