IRONMAN triathlon on Sunday, June 15 to impact campus and community roads, campus parking
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley triathlon will take place Sunday, June 15 at locations across Centre and Clinton counties, including the Penn State University Park campus.
Comprised of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run in succession, the event will impact numerous campus and community roads and campus parking lots. Those who need to travel on the day of the event are encouraged to review the following list of traffic and parking impacts, utilize detour routes if able, and allow for additional travel time to your destination.

CAMPUS ROAD IMPACTS
The following campus road closures will be in effect Sunday, June 15:
3 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Curtin Road (University Drive to Porter Road)
8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Pollock Road (Bigler Road to Burrowes Road)
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Curtin Road (Atherton Street to University Drive)
- University Drive (Park Avenue to College Avenue)
- Hastings Road (McKean Road to University Drive)
- McKean Road (Shortlidge Road to Bigler Road)
- Mifflin Road (McKean Road to Pollock Road)
8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- West Campus Drive (Patterson Street to Barnard Street)
- Shortlidge Road (Curtin Road to Pollock Road)
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- College Avenue westbound on-ramp to University Drive
Commuter Drive between Curtin Road and Dauer Drive will also be closed beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, June 14 through 6 p.m. Sunday, June 15.
CAMPUS PARKING CLOSURES
A section of Stadium West near Gate B at Beaver Stadium and the north section of Jordan East will be closed beginning Tuesday, June 10 through Tuesday, June 17.
The following lots will be closed on Sunday, June 15 with no access into or out of the lots:
- Brown B
- Brown E
- Green C
- Orange L (Multi-Sport Facility and Bryce Jordan Center back lot sections)
- Red H
- Silver B (all sections)
- Silver G
- Silver J (all sections)
- Silver N
- Yellow E (both sections)
- Yellow H (all sections except by the Nittany Lion Softball Park)
- Yellow L
- Yellow R
- Lot 42
The following lots will have limited access with a single entrance/exit on Bigler Road at Curtin Road (entry and exit will only be permitted when it is possible for vehicles to cross safely between event participants):
- Yellow F (Eisenhower Deck and surface lot)
- Yellow S
- Yellow T (Pollock section)
- Lot 22
- Lot 81
Note: Lot 82 (McKean/Pennypacker section) will only be accessible via Park Avenue.
Permit holders who need to park on campus on Sunday, June 15, are strongly encouraged to use the East, HUB, Nittany, and West decks. A single crossing to access Eisenhower Deck and other areas inside the running route will be maintained on Bigler Road at Curtin Road. Crossing Curtin Road will only be allowed between athletes, and delays may be significant.

- Water Street southbound (Beech Creek Avenue to Jacksonville Road)
7:30 a.m. – noon
- Jacksonville Road westbound (Water Street to Hubler Ridge Road)
8 a.m. – noon
- Hubler Ridge Road southbound (Jacksonville Road to Nittany Valley Drive/Rt. 64)
8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Nittany Valley Drive/Rt. 64/College Avenue westbound (Hubler Ridge Road to Harrison Road)
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Church Street/Upper Brush Valley Road westbound (Rt. 144/Pennsylvania Avenue to Linden Hall Road)
9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Boalsburg Road northbound (Linden Hall Road to Branch Road)
- Branch Road southbound and northbound (Boalsburg Road to Atherton Street)
